Rebel Soul
Since 2004, The Rebel Soul has been the social mouthpiece of the festival; the beating heart of consciousness of Shambala. Rebel Soul is a celebration of rebellion, resistance and the exploration of positive futures. Our programme includes grass roots campaigns, practical workshops, underground poets and musicians, subversive comedy and alternative cinema. Rebel Soul is a place to open your mind and a chance for you all to take something useful away with you.
The Social Club
From knife throwing to tea dances, you can expect the unexpected in our dedicated mixed cabaret venue, The Social Club.
The Roots Yard
The reggae den that is The Roots Yard is back bigger and better for 2010. With more great Caribbean cuisine, another serious line up of ‘toon selectas' and MCs, a larger tent and a new later licence we can now soak up more of the heavy, conscious, roots vibes!
Wandering Word
The wonderful Wandering Word will be back once again to pay homage to the spoken word. Playing host to a feast of storytellers, rhyme spinnners and vocal performers alongside a few real poet laureates thrown in for good measure!
The Craft Village
Come and celebrate the time before technology ruined our social lives. Where every man and women knew how to make their own shoes, pots and most other things we now buy from Ikea. So smash up your iPhone and turn it into something more useful like a pair of horse shoes! This year the theme is metal and we will have true artisans who can demonstrate the sadly disappearing art and craft heritage of the British Isles.
The Saloon Bar
This year we going to the ‘Wild West' so get those cowboy boots on. As always, the main bar will present a diverse line up of some of the best party Djs around. From a special set from Laminate Radio- featuring Blue Fontaine (AKA the legendary DJ Die) alongside partner in crime, Gus Pirelli; to the fresh sounds of Bristol's finest, Futureboogie . This will be a place to socialise, drink, dance and lasso anyone you fancy!
Recursive Function
Recursive Function are back, bigger and better with bells and whistles shooting out of their Immersive Dome. A brand new ultra hi tech surround projection system will make this less dome, more 22nd century party pod with suitably cutting edge beats and blips.
The Compass of Lunacy
Dare you delve into the topsy-turvy world of the Compass of Lunacy?! In this Lunatic world prepare to be shocked, delighted, appalled, and entertained! We invite you to step behind the looking glass, into the rabbit warren of the mind, to cavort in our dreamscapes and frolic in our fantasies! With a programme of performance, cabaret, burlesque, live music, DJs, visuals, silent film, and other cinematic samples, you will laugh yourself to lunacy with the Compass Crew!
The Healing Fields featuring The Shambala Spa
This year, our pampering and relaxation area will be set in its own separate lush meadow. A peaceful village full of yurts and domes, where qualified professionals work around the clock, pummelling, stroking and easing the stresses of everyday festival life out of your exhausted body. Once you've got nice and oily, jump in the sauna and you will be ready for more partying on the other side of the lake.
The Wilderness Woodlands
The home of large scale, mind blowing art installations such as the awesome laser projections and surreal sound installations! This year will be bolder and more impressive. We will not, however, spoil the surprise by attempting to describe something so visual merely with words. You will just have to wait until The Wilderness' grand opening on Friday evening!
The Wonky Cock Country Pub
Run by folk who look like they have been inbred for generations, our very own local boozer will have over 20 different local ales and lagers. Not only that we, we will also have an in house sing along honky-tonk piano genius- the one and only, Freddy Fingers.
There is much much more, but you have to be there to find it!
