Big Issue

The Big Issue

The Big Issue produce a weekly entertainment and current affairs magazine which vendors buy from us for £1 and sell to the public for £2, keeping £1 for themselves. Vendors must adhere to a code of conduct whilst selling the magazine.

They believe in offering ‘a hand up, not a hand out', but we also recognise that earning an income is the first step on the journey away from homelessness towards social and financial inclusion. They also have a charity arm, The Big Issue Foundation. This exists to link vendors with the vital support which will help them address the issues which have led to their homelessness.

The Big Issue Foundation supports and encourages these vendors to make further changes to their lives so they can move away from homelessness and back into main stream society. The mission of our work is to allow 3000 vendors across the UK to fulfil their potential.

Why Not?

Become the ultimate consumer with a conscience. Befriend a vendor and indulge in an exciting and informative read. You could always get involved with our wide range of fundraising activities too.

Shambala's wristbanding team and program sellers are big issue volunteers. Have a chat.
