Ground breaking art

Four new commissions come to Shambala.

Shambala is pleased to welcome an ambitious touring programme of contemporary art projects. The programme is a partnership production between Up Projects and Shangri-la Glastonbury Festival, and is supported by the Arts Council of England.

‘We wanted to be the sky' by Tim Etchells a large scale text work, in the form of carnival sign. Letters picked out in coloured lightbulbs will stand out against the sky referencing the evocative song lyric of Cat Power.

Visit Tai Shani's Orpheum Theatre to see ‘An Encounter with the Supernatural is Imminent'; a live, holographic performance of a psychedelic story about an actress who cannot awake from a never-ending dream.

Untitled (Box Light) by Dan Coopey is an interactive light box comprising hundreds of coloured discs. You can customise the composition of the blocks into whatever pattern, shape or arrangement that takes your inspiration.

Jim Woodall & Brian Random's Postapocadylic Circuits is an installation loosely resembling Piccadilly Circus after the apocalypse - curving around the tent it attempts to create a visualisation of the feeling of ecstasy using a large collection of irregularly shaped lightboxes.
